Two notch sizes on one blade
The stainless steel double-notched trowel combines 12 × 12 mm or 15 × 15 mm notches with a second 4 × 4 mm notch pattern. The blade measures 280 × 130 × 0.7 mm. This version is available exclusively with a 2K plastic handle.

Back-buttering and combing: adhesive on both surfaces
In the combined buttering-floating method, tile adhesive is applied to both the substrate and the back of the tile. The adhesive layers join when the tile is placed and pressed into the bed. The aim is extensive contact with as few voids as possible, especially useful for large tiles and slabs and demanding installations.
Two notch sizes – one tool
The coarse 12 × 12 mm or 15 × 15 mm notches are used to apply adhesive to the substrate. The additional 4 × 4 mm notches allow a finer combed layer on the back of the tile. Both steps can therefore be carried out using the same trowel.
Practical advantages
- Fewer tool changes: Coarse and fine notches are combined on one blade.
- Improved contact: Applying adhesive to both surfaces supports a good bond between the tile and substrate.
- Fewer voids: Careful bedding supports even load transfer and is particularly useful in demanding applications.
- Controlled application: The two notch sizes support different adhesive layer thicknesses.
The suitable notch size depends on the tile format, back profile, substrate and adhesive. Follow the adhesive and tile manufacturers’ instructions and check adhesive coverage during installation.
